Giant Robot is proud to host The Patterns Found in Space, an art show featuring new work by Mike Perry.
The Brooklyn, NY-based artist makes drawings, paintings, illustrations, magazines, newspapers, and clothing, and teaches whenever possible. His first book, titled Hand Job, was published by Princeton Architectural Press in 2006. His second book, titled Over & Over, hit shelves last fall. He has also worked with clients from New York Times Magazine, Dwell Magazine, Microsoft Zune, Urban Outfitters, eMusic, and Zoo York. Doodling away night and day, Perry creates new typefaces and sundry graphics that inevitably evolve into his new work, exercising the great belief that the generating of piles is the sincerest form of creative process.
The Patterns Found in Space will feature a mixture screen-prints, original drawings, and watercolor. Perry plans to make at least 20 pieces for the show, in addition to an original, full-color, 16-page newsprint piece to be given to all attendees.
The opening reception for the artist will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2009.
